Overview

Stony Dean School are looking to recruit an SEN Teacher to work with our experienced and caring team. We are looking for a talented, kind, inspiring Teacher to work with our young people, who can deliver quality first teaching to a range of students including our Foundation, Climb and 6th Form provision, with a variety of learning needs.

The successful candidate will be driven to improve the outcomes for young people with SEND and will have experience of teaching, or be prepared to teach a mixture of ages and abilities. Please contact the school for an informal conversation about this role.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with SEND. We are looking for a dynamic classroom practitioner with a clear sense of purpose, high expectations of all students and the ability to deploy a range of techniques and approaches to support the pupils in our care. You will need to have vision, a successful track record in teaching pupils across a wide ability range and the ability to work effectively with the whole school community.

In return, we will offer you high quality support and CPD from expert colleagues who will coach and guide you through your professional development. You will be invited to attend regular training sessions and workshops run by highly experienced and qualified staff. This is an ideal opportunity to work in a friendly, supportive and well-resourced school. You do not need to have a specific subject that you can teach. 

About you

The successful candidate will have the following key competencies:
a) Excellent classroom practitioner with a wide range of teaching skills: knowledge and understanding of teaching SEN across a broad spectrum of abilities;
b) High level inter-personal skills enabling effective collaborative working;
c) To be able to use classroom and behaviour management techniques effectively;
d) Ability to work collaboratively with and implement the advice of specialists working within the school (e.g. Speech and Language Therapists) in their own classroom.

Applications from ECT's, primary and secondary mainstream teachers as well as experienced SEN teachers who are eager to extend their SEN experience are welcome.
