SENDCo - Naphill and Walters Ash School

Location: Hughenden

Overview

We are looking for a confident, ambitious and thoughtful practitioner who wants to make a real difference — not just maintain what already works. If you believe inclusion belongs at the heart of a school (not filed away in a policy), and you're someone who is curious, reflective and keen to keep getting better, then this might be the role for you.

You'll lead SEND across the school — but this isn't just about systems and paperwork.

You'll shape provision, support staff, work closely with families, and stay connected to the classroom through teaching.

Put simply: you'll have real influence, and real responsibility.

Term time only: Yes

Salary type: MPS

Salary Details: MPS + SENDCo Allowance

Contract type: 1 year Fixed Term

Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week

Closing date: 22/06/2026

Interviews to be held: Week commencing 29th June 2026

About us

At Naphill and Walters Ash School, we value high standards and achievement. We encourage our children to think independently, make links in their learning and to respect the world they live in.  Most of all, we encourage children to have a positive approach to learning as this is something that they can then take with them wherever they go.

About the role

This role comes with both challenge and opportunity.

It's a school where need is above average and where we care deeply about getting it right. You won't be left to figure that out alone — you'll be working with a supportive team and a Headteacher who understands the role from experience — but you will need to be someone who is willing to think, adapt and lead.

It's probably worth being clear…

This is a role where:
• your ideas will be listened to
• you can make meaningful changes
• you'll continue to grow as a leader
• you'll balance leadership with time in the classroom

It's not a role for someone looking to stay comfortable or simply keep things ticking over.

After a year, we'd hope you'd look back and see real impact — in pupils, in staff confidence, and in your own development.

This post is initially offered on a fixed-term basis, but for the right person — someone who really makes the role their own — there is potential for it to become permanent.

Please see attached Job description for further information.

About you

A few practical things:

  • You'll need QTS and either hold, or be working towards, the NPQSENDCO or National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) — and we would be happy to support the right candidate in gaining this qualification.
  • You'll need a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • You'll need to care — about pupils, about families, and about doing the job well

Other information

What you'll find here: enthusiastic and kind pupils, a committed staff team, strong pastoral support, and a school community that takes pride in what it does.

We'd really encourage you to visit.

Schools aren't easily summed up on paper — come and see us, ask questions, and get a feel for whether this is the right place for you.

Please send completed application forms back to the school.
