We currently have a vacancy for a Speech & Language Therapy specialist Teaching Assistant to work with children across Key Stage 2.
The holder of this post will provide speech and language support for our pupils with priority to our EHCP and SEN Support children and any children who have temporary difficulties linked to speech and language.

About the role
Duties include providing targeted support to enhance learning opportunities, improving attainment and achievement. Responsibilities include running interventions and support programmes to help these children and promote their inclusion in the classroom and help them access the wider curriculum. The successful candidate will be required to engage proactively with the advice, training and webinars offered by the Speech and Language Therapy team in order to support pupils.
The SALT element of this job is for 0.6FTE of the week. Also included in this role is a 0.4FTE general TA role mainly involving the one to one support of children who require additional emotional and behavioural support to thrive in their learning environment, helping them to work inclusively within the classroom and to assist them with activities outside of class when this becomes a challenge. You may at times also be helping other children to participate in learning activities running intervention groups and providing general support to the teaching staff.

About you
For this post, our ideal candidate will have some experience of working with children who have speech and language difficulties in Key Stage 1 or 2, ideally with additional needs. They will demonstrate an understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs and trauma informed practice. Importantly, they will be patient, empathetic and able to think creatively and flexibly to support pupils' unique needs. It is important that applicants have a love of helping children engage in learning and be happy to undertake any training necessary to run interventions in school.
