Salary Details: £34398 - £46839 plus £2787 SEN allowance ( however, salary could be negotiable for the right person and therefore actual salary is dependent on experience)

At the Buckinghamshire Primary Pupil Referral Unit we provide support for children experiencing significant social, emotional or behavioural difficulties in their mainstream primary school. Children may be supported by outreach or by attendance at one of our units. About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the different provisions offered by the PRU and will give you a chance to develop and consolidate excellent behaviour management, follow a trauma informed approach and inspire reluctant learners with quality first teaching.  Life is never boring at a PRU; each day brings different challenges and that is why it is so rewarding to work here.  

You will receive training and support from our friendly team to enable you to be successful.  Once fully trained you will have opportunities to work with colleagues in mainstream school as part of our outreach service.

About you

We are seeking a committed and compassionate teacher to join our Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU).  This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to children who require additional support to re-engage with learning.  

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on behaviour and learning.

You will be skilled in building positive, trusting relationships and creating a safe, nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued.  

You will deliver high-quality teaching (Quality First Teaching), adapting the curriculum to meet a wide range of needs.

A flexible, creative approach is essential, alongside the ability to use effective strategies to support emotional regulation, engagement and progress. 

We are look for some who:

  • Has experience working with primary-aged pupils, ideally in alternative provision or SEND settings.     
  • Demonstrates consistently high expectations and strong classroom practice
  • Uses a trauma-informed approach to behaviour and learning
  • Is resilient, reflective and committed to inclusive education
  • Works effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
