Overview

We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher to lead on Safeguarding and provision for Pupil Premium children. We need an outstanding practitioner who can make a difference to the children in our Good school (OFSTED Apr 2024); someone who is prepared to work hard, use their initiative and share our aspirations. We want the best for our children and our ambition is to become an outstanding school.

Start date: The successful applicant would be expected to start in this post with effect from 01 September 2026.

Term time only: No

Salary type: Leadership

About the role

Main purpose of the post:

  • To work in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team to effectively lead and manage on one of our two sites, carrying out the duties of the Headteacher in his absence;
  • To lead on Safeguarding;
  • To lead on developing and evaluating the provision for our Pupil Premium children to ensure they make the best possible progress;
  • Being a visible presence around the school and taking a lead on pupil behaviour management;
  • Liaising with external professionals;
  • Induction of new pupils;
  • Supporting pupils’ transition from KS1 to KS2 and between KS2 and secondary education.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Committed to inclusion and the rights of all children;
  • An outstanding and innovative practitioner with a professional attitude and clear vision for raising standards, especially for vulnerable groups within our school;
  • Motivated, creative and able to work as part of a team;
  • Committed to working in partnership with parents and the community, with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Able to understand and support the logistics of running a large school in a safe and calm manner;
  • Experienced in implementing improvements at a whole school level;
  • Able to mentor new and junior members of teaching staff.

Experience in the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead is desirable, but full training will be provided to candidates if necessary.
