Overview
Do you enjoy teaching in a way that’s practical, hands-on and outdoors rather than stuck behind four walls?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to support young people with special educational needs in a truly unique setting – a working farm where learning happens through nature, animals and real-life experiences.
This is an opportunity to step away from a traditional classroom and deliver meaningful education that builds confidence, independence and everyday life skills.
Salary: Range £25,000 - £29,000 (pro-rata)
Contract: Permanent, term time only
Hours: Full or Part time
Closing date: 6th March 2026

About the role
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Functional Skills in English and Maths to young people with SEND
- Plan creative, practical sessions that link learning to farm and outdoor activities
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
- Provide one-to-one and small group support
- Work closely with colleagues to create engaging, personalised learning journeys
- Help young people build confidence, independence and employability skills
- Cultivating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and a love for learning.
About you
- Experience working with SEND children, preferably in an educational setting
- Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
- A flexible, creative approach to learning delivery
- Confidence working outside and incorporating nature and animals into sessions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
