The county has a rich history and heritage and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.
We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey. You will be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home.

The CWD team provides a wide range of supportive and statutory social work interventions. This includes casework that involves Looked After Children, Child Protection Planning and Children in Need. Staff in this part of the service will have a mixed caseload and will enjoy excellent support.
The team have manageable caseloads, agile working, and access to comprehensive training and reflective supervision.
About you
You will be a qualified social worker will have sound social work practice with young people and families and some knowledge of supporting young people with additional needs would be helpful though this is a role that develops over time and with knowledge and understanding from the young people you will support.
You will be registered with Social Work England.
What our newest family worker says about the team:
“I joined the Children with Disabilities team in September 2025, having previously worked as an Assistant Educational Psychologist for a number of years across other local authorities. My experience to date had been centred around supporting children, young people, and their families within education settings, and I am looking forward to broadening my experience of supporting families at home and within the community.
Starting any new role in a new team can be scary but the team were so welcoming and supportive; they really put me at ease, and I quickly realised I had nothing to be nervous about. There’s lots to learn and my colleagues have been fantastic at showing me step by step and reassuring me that no question is a silly one! I’m really looking forward to getting into the role more and supporting the children, young people, and families.”
