Overview

Marsworth CE Infant School small village Church of England school which was identified as a 'Good' school at our last Ofsted Inspection (April 2023). We also belong to two Network Learning groups of schools which enhance the delivery of our curriculum.

We have a strong team of staff who are committed to teaching and learning throughout our friendly and inclusive school and are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic KS1 teacher to join the team in September on a fixed term contract for one day a week, term time only

Role and objectives
• To promote a high level of self esteem
• To ensure that pupils acquire the skills, attitudes and knowledge essential for their future development
• To encourage pupils to hold positive attitudes and respect for others and to uphold the Christian values of the school
• To provide a learning environment that promotes independent learners and well-motivated pupils
• To hold high expectations of self and pupils at all times
• To ensure that the children make at least good progress in their class
• To plan so that children reach their targets given their starting points with regard to changes that might happen in the child’s life

Main areas of responsibility
• Planning, teaching and class management, including behaviour, which is consistently good or better
• Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum
• To be accountable for monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting of pupils work and progress
• The safety and welfare of all pupils within the school
• Liaising with colleagues and parents
• Upholding the school’s Christian values and vision through the curriculum and conduct in school

Key tasks and duties
• Planning and teaching lessons according to the National Curriculum and agreed curriculum of the school that identify clear objectives and content and differentiate work according to the needs of the children
• To assess and monitor children’s work, keeping effective records of progress and reporting this to all relevant parties, including parents, in an appropriate format
• Having a secure knowledge of the National Curriculum
• To be familiar with all relevant school policies and procedures and specific health and safety requirements
• Liaise with other teaching staff, support staff, parents and other agencies associated with the school
• Day to day responsibility for a caring, well ordered and disciplined classroom environment
• Responsibility for the registration of pupils and management of other administrative matters relating to the class
• Setting and marking homework within the framework of the schools agreed policy
• Attending staff meetings and parent meetings/consultations as required
• Fulfilling supervisory duties as required
• Having a working knowledge of teachers’ professional duties
• To fulfil the requirements of the school’s performance management programme
• Understand teacher’s legal liabilities and responsibilities in relation to:
- Race relations
- Sex discrimination
- Health and safety at work
- Child protection and welfare
- Physical contact with pupils (including guidelines for restraint)
• Establish effective working relationships with professional colleagues
• Set a good example to pupils through presentation, personal and professional conduct
• To take an active role in your own professional development
• To work in partnership with the school’s governing body
• Play a full part in the life of the school community and support its ethos

• Has experience of teaching in a mixed year group
