Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced LSA to join our Juniper team from April 2025 to support pupils within our new SEMH Unit, The Nest, for pupils who have experienced emotional trauma.

The Nest is organised into 2 classes, one EYFS/KS1 and one KS2. This is a unique and fantastic opportunity to work across both classes, supporting the Lead teacher and HLTA to deliver a differentiated curriculum, rich in therapeutic interventions. Our LSA’s will also work alongside additional professionals, such as our speech and language therapist, virtual school and play therapist.

Salary details: Bucks Pay Range 2/11 (£25,625 FTE)

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 3.30pm

Juniper Hill is a happy, thriving, 2 form entry Primary School set in the village of Flackwell Heath, Buckinghamshire. The school is on an attachment aware, trauma responsive (AATR) journey. Members of the Juniper Team have completed various training such as Attachment Lead training, DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy). We have whole school and individual AATR training booked.

About the role

We are looking for someone to take up post in September 2025 within our new SEMH Unit, the Nest. The Nest is organised into 2 classes, one EYFS/KS1 and one KS2. Our LSA’s will be expected to work across both classes, supporting the Lead teacher and HLTA’s to deliver a differentiated curriculum, rich in therapeutic interventions.

Our LSA’s will also work alongside additional professionals, such as our speech and language therapist, virtual school and play therapist.
The successful candidate will join a current team of 5 staff within our 12-place unit, supporting curriculum delivery and SEMH provision throughout the day. The job will involve working with our children in small groups, one to one or as a whole teaching group.

We will provide training and support which may include opportunities to train as an Attachment Lead, complete DDP training and PACE training. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn and willing to adapt their support and practices as their own knowledge of emotional trauma deepens. We value our LSA’s, they are an important part of our team. All of our LSA’s support our Midday Supervisors during the lunch hour.

You will be passionate about supporting pupils who have experience emotional trauma and willing to learn more to enhance your day to day practice. We value diversity and you will be expected to support our SMSC & D (Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural and Diversity) provision. You would be expected to embrace outdoor learning; all of our children have Forest School lessons in our school Orchard.

The successful candidate will need to be calm, nurturing, self-aware and able to regulate their own emotions. Applicants would benefit from having worked as an LSA previously or having experience with children who can present with significant social and emotional needs. They must be willing to undertake a range of trauma responsive training that may be either on an individual level and within our whole school training development plan.
