Overview

Marsh Infant and Nursery School is looking for a part-time Bursar for a September 2025 start.

The role is for 38 weeks per year, approximately 10 hours per week, although overtime will be offered during busy times of the year.

We are looking for someone with financial experience/financial background, however full training will be given.

You will need to be enthusiastic, a team player and be prepared to work in a busy and varied role.

Salary Type: Bucks pay

Salary details: BP 5 £33,158 - £35,725 FTE - prorated £7,390 - £7,963

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 10 per week with the option of overtime being paid during busy times of the year.

About the role

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To be a member of the front of house team for the school providing a professional welcome for anyone who comes to the school in line with the school ethos.
  2. Day to day management of school’s finances, including the school fund, DCFG, trip money and other external funding in line with the current financial policies
  3. Forward budget planning including preparation of annual forecasts and budgets, in consultation with the head teacher.
  4. Budget monitoring on a monthly basis, reconciliation between FMS & SAP.
  5. Preparing financial reports as required by Head teacher, Governing Body and other budget holders; attending meetings of Governing Body, as required, to present reports on financial matters.
  6. Monitoring of all income and expenditure relating to internal budgets; keeping budget holders informed of their balances and committed expenditure. To act as budget holder as appropriate at the discretion of the head teacher

Experience

  • Experience of working in a finance role including experience of producing and managing budgets
  • Managing financial accounts using financial systems
  • Experience of working with spreadsheets
