Senior Asset Manager

Overview
An exciting new opportunity has become available at Buckinghamshire Council in the Asset Management Team. As a Senior Asset Manager to support the Asset Management Team in the active asset management of the Council’s operational and non-operational property portfolio’s supporting the Council’s service delivery, improve investment returns and deliver capital receipts.
This is fixed term contract until 30th April 2026.

About the role
This is a senior role supporting the Head of Asset Management. You will be expected to work independently and be a self-starter in a fast paced environment. You will be responsible for managing external consultancy and property management contracts in relation to the various Council Portfolios
This is an interesting and varied role with considerable opportunity to develop your career in property and asset management alongside a broad ranging and challenging portfolio. On commencement of the role you will be based in the office/on site a minimum of 2 days a week. Working hours are flexible within core hours.

The wider Assets Team manage a highly varied portfolio ranging from retail, office and industrial assets to farms, residential, schools, hotels and theatres. There are ample opportunities to develop your property knowledge and be involved in strategic Council projects supporting revenue growth, capital receipts, service delivery and asset rationalisation.
You will use your professional expertise to deal with complex, pressing issues on a day to day basis, but will also look well ahead and take a more strategic view of their project and service delivery objections.
You will manage your own individual projects with the support of the wider team along with supporting other team members and managing external contracts.
You will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the portfolio and will be expected to provide innovate solutions to complex situations.
We are a small but friendly team and work closely together and support one another and our client services.
Key Accountabilities
- To advise and undertake both case by case asset and portfolio management functions across the Council’s various Portfolios in accordance with our corporate objectives.
- To provide strategic advice in relation to specific assstes and to achieve best value for the Council.
- To provide and receive strategic advice in relation to and conduct negotiations in relation to Landlord and Tenant matters.
- To provide strategic advice in relation to and negotiate disposals and acquisitions in line with the Asset Management Plan.
- To administer and manage tenants, service charges, deal with queries and prepare budgets. To manage external managing agents and outsourced management contracts.
- To provide strategic advice in the development and direction of the property portfolio and service delivery.

Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
Ideally you will be RICS qualified or have relevant professional property experience within a corporate or investment property environment and looking to progress your career, you will have excellent planning and organisational skills.
You will need excellent attention to detail and the ability to plan your own workload to agreed timescales with a will to want to succeed, you should have excellent literacy, numeracy and report writing skills. You will have excellent negotiation skills and be experienced in dealing with complex property transactions and situations
You will be experienced in working with the general public and resolving challenging situations as well reporting to Members. You will be a self-starter and able to offer innovative ideas to help shape and enhance the property portfolio.
