Following the creation of new roles within the school, we are seeking to appoint Assistant Teachers to work with the young people in our care at Stocklake Park School.
Working as part of a team you will provide support for the class teacher and assist with the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. About us
Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Stocklake Park Secondary School is a special school which caters for students who have moderate to severe learning difficulties.
There are currently 108 students at the main site. The school follows a primary model and is designed to meet individual educational needs and develop social and personal skills. The curriculum is organised to give students the opportunity to experience and explore different subjects. We provide high quality education and care and students have access to a range of therapies, multi-agency professionals and a team of therapists who support students’ needs. We offer an excellent training package for staff together with a fantastic opportunity to become part of an innovative and forward thinking team who are providing a therapeutic and unique learning environment for its pupils. All students have access to swimming at our primary site, a rebound centre and purpose built outdoor spaces including a MUGA (multi use games area) and playground equipment. We are close to bus and train links and on-site parking is available for staff.
About the role
As an Assistant Teacher the successful candidate will work with the class teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lesson/work plans as appropriate. You will assist with the development and implementation of individual education and personal care plans, attending to personal hygiene needs and administering medicines. You will be required to lead whole classes during the teacher’s non-contact time and also during the short-term absence of the teacher. Comprehensive training is provided as appropriate to the role with a brand new continued professional development programme allowing every staff member opportunities to develop and flourish. About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have a minimum of three years’ experience of working with children and young people who have a range of special educational and complex needs either in a special school or similar setting, or maybe through a different job role.
You will be able to liaise with other professionals in order to carry out recommendations required and also work on your own initiative. A good working knowledge of ICT to be able to effectively support learning and a commitment to training is expected.
