Overview

Cuddington and Dinton C of E school is a split site school with 181 pupils across the school. In both sites, we are very much part of village life. We pride ourselves on our nurturing approach to education where the individual needs of the children are always met. The curriculum provides exciting learning experiences for the children both in and out of school. We are looking for a full time Teaching Assistant however the position may be suited to a HLTA so there are two job descriptions available on our website.

About the role

Duties:
• Prepare work and activities with children in advance, in accordance with the objectives set by the teacher
• Communicate/liaise with the class teacher
• Support teaching and learning in partnership with the class teacher
• Help children in individual and collaborative study skills
• Work with children with varying degrees of learning difficulties
• Give children feedback on their achievements and progress
• Help ensure that children adhere to the school’s behaviour policy
• Supervise lunch daily for ½ hour

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who can work across the school. The successful candidate will have recent successful experience of working in KS2, ideally having supported children with and EHCP. They will be familiar with working with children to support learning across the curriculum, including delivering small group interventions to close the gap in literacy and mathematics.

About you

Qualifications
• GCSE grade C or above English and Maths or equivalent
• Computer literate
• A relevant qualification in Early Years Childcare and/or Education

Previous Experience
• Experience of working with children
• Experience of working in a primary school with children across key stages
• Previous experience as a teaching assistant
• Experience of working with children with special educational needs

Professional Skills
• Prepared to undertake in-service training in order to increase knowledge, skills and keep abreast of educational developments
• Able to establish positive and constructive relationships with children, staff and parents
• Work under the direction of others and as part of a team
• The ability to use own initiative
• Positive attitude towards school/pride in work

Knowledge
• Child development and the ways in which children learn • Safeguarding and child protection
• Behaviour management strategies
• SEN Code of practice

Personal qualities
• Flexible approach to work
