About the role

As our only Food Technology Teacher, you will plan for and deliver a range of practical lessons that cater for all students across KS3 - 5. Our pupils love this subject so lack of engagement is not an issue. Class sizes are small and you will be supported by a very experienced member of the team. Our curriculum has been re-designed to allow pupils to practice cooking simple, healthy meals that they could re-create at home. We do not follow a GCSE syllabus, however some of our Y11 pupils work towards a Home Cooking Skills Award. Our main priority is for our students to find a love of cooking, enabling them to prepare a simple meal for themselves whilst developing emotional resilience and self-confidence.

As an SEN Teacher you will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who consistently demonstrates the highest standards of delivery, is fully committed to raising engagement across your subject area and acutely aware of the strategies required to achieve the highest standards.

The successful candidate will be a confident individual with excellent communication skills and a great sense of humour. Resilience is also essential!

About you

The successful candidate will have a range of key competencies and skills for the role.

1) Friendly, caring and organised professional with a good sense of humour.
2) Excellent classroom practitioner with a range of teaching skills, knowledge and understanding of supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
3) Good levels of inter-personal skills enabling effective relationship building with pupils and collaborative working with colleagues.
4) To be able to draw upon a range of behaviour management techniques to support learners.

Applications from primary and secondary mainstream teachers, as well as experienced SEN teachers who are eager to extend their SEN experience, are welcome. You will be supported by a comprehensive induction and training program and line managed by a highly experienced member of staff from Stony Dean School.
